Goldstripe Butterflyfish
Chaetodon aureofasciatus
Goldstripe Butterflyfish (Chaetodon aureofasciatus) is a reef-associated butterflyfish from the tropical Indo-Pacific. It is a small, mostly coral-feeding species that usually lives in pairs or small groups around shallow coral reefs.

Titik pengenalan
- Broad yellow-gold vertical stripe(s) on a pale body
- Typical butterflyfish disc-shaped body with a pointed snout
- Dark eye band and yellow-edged fins on a reef fish profile
Habitat
Shallow tropical coral reefs and reef slopes, especially areas with live coral growth and complex structure; most often in clear coastal waters of the Indo-Pacific.
Nota umpan
Not a typical game fish and rarely targeted by anglers. If encountered on light tackle, tiny natural baits or very small coral-reef imitation flies/lures are more relevant than standard sport-fishing baits.
Tingkah laku
Diurnal and reef-faithful, it picks at coral polyps and small benthic invertebrates. Usually seen in pairs, it is alert and tends to stay close to shelter within the reef.
Berhati-hati
Handle minimally because reef habitats are fragile and local collection rules may apply. As with many coral-reef fish, consumption is not a common use and reef-associated food-safety risks can vary by location; check local advisories.
Nota memancing
Best treated as a watch-and-release reef species; avoid targeting it on coral reefs because capture can damage fragile habitat. If incidentally hooked, use very light line and release it quickly without touching the coral.
