จุดประจำตัว

  • Slender seahorse with a long, narrow snout
  • Pale to brown body with bony rings and a slight dorsal profile
  • Prehensile tail used to anchor to seagrass or algae

ที่อยู่อาศัย

Sheltered nearshore habitats in southwestern Australia, especially seagrass beds, macroalgae, shell grit, jetties, and other low-energy structure in estuaries and coastal bays.

บันทึกเหยื่อ

Not a sport species and should not be targeted. If encountered while fishing, small live mysids, amphipods, or tiny shrimp are the natural prey type; avoid baiting or handling.

พฤติกรรม

A slow-moving ambush predator that grips vegetation or structure with its prehensile tail and feeds on tiny crustaceans by suction. It is generally cryptic, solitary, and easy to overlook.

คำเตือน

Protected seahorses are often regulated under Australian wildlife and fisheries laws; do not collect them. Handle gently to avoid stress and tail injury, and check local protections before any possession or transport.

บันทึกการตกปลา

Use light, careful observation rather than active targeting. If photographing or relocating from gear, keep the fish submerged and minimize handling; release immediately where legal and appropriate.
