It forages on tiny aquatic invertebrates and usually stays close to cover; reports outside its native range should be treated cautiously because occurrence records can include misidentifications or introductions.

Tiny live worms, bloodworms, small crickets, and insect larvae can work well; very small soft plastics, micro jigs, and flies tied to imitate midges or small aquatic insects are practical. Downsize everything and fish it near cover.
行为
Secretive and cover-oriented, often hovering near plants or woody debris and picking off small insects, crustaceans, and other invertebrates. It is most active in calm, sheltered water and is not a hard-charging open-water feeder.
