Golden dorado is a large, toothy South American characiform prized as a hard-fighting predator in warm river systems. It hunts aggressively in current and often ambushes prey around structure, drop-offs, and riffles.

An opportunistic piscivore that strikes hard and often near the surface or midwater. It is most active in moving water, using current breaks to ambush baitfish, and may feed best during low light or when water is slightly stained.
