Fire Dartfish
Nemateleotris magnifica
Fire Dartfish (Nemateleotris magnifica) is a small Indo-Pacific reef fish known for hovering above rubble and bolt-hole retreats. It is primarily an aquarium species and is not a standard food or game fish.

识别要点
- Bright orange-red to yellow-orange body with a paler lower half
- Elongated first dorsal fin ray extending like a filament above the head
- Black marking on the upper rear edge of the dorsal fin and a rounded tail
栖息地
Lives on outer reef slopes and sheltered lagoon or seaward reef edges, especially over sand-and-rubble bottoms near coral heads, usually in pairs or small groups and close to a quick retreat hole.
饵料备注
Not a conventional angling target. If ever collected for the aquarium trade, small planktonic foods, mysis, copepods, and finely chopped marine foods are used; hook-and-line fishing is generally impractical and not recommended.
行为
A wary planktivore that hovers in the water column and darts into crevices when threatened; feeds on zooplankton carried by current and spends much of the day stationary above shelter.
注意事项
Handle gently and avoid reef contact; this is a delicate ornamental reef fish. As a small tropical reef species, it is not a routine food fish, and local aquarium-collection or marine-protected-area regulations may apply.
钓法备注
This species is typically observed, not pursued by anglers. Collection is usually by hand net or barrier methods in the aquarium trade; avoid reef damage and check local rules, as collection may be restricted.
