识别要点

  • Slender, torpedo-shaped body built for speed
  • Blue-green back with a bright silvery belly
  • Large mouth with prominent sharp, triangular teeth

栖息地

Coastal marine waters, surf zones, inlets, estuaries, bays, and nearshore shelf edges; often move inshore around bait concentrations and current breaks, especially in warm seasons.

饵料备注

Use live baitfish, cut bait, metal spoons, bucktails, topwater poppers, and swimming plugs that imitate slender forage. Match local bait size; bluefish respond well to fast retrieves and flashy presentations.

行为

Highly schooling and migratory, bluefish are opportunistic piscivores that feed with short, violent blitzes on menhaden, anchovies, mullet, and squid. They often chase bait at the surface and can be ferocious when present.

注意事项

Sharp teeth can easily cut fingers and leaders. Handle with pliers or a lip gripper. In some areas bluefish can have elevated mercury or ciguatera risk in larger fish; follow local consumption advisories and size/bag regulations.

钓法备注

Cast into breaking fish, rips, and tide lines; retrieve quickly and vary speed to trigger strikes. Wire leaders are often necessary because of their teeth; surf anglers and boat anglers both target them around bait schools and current seams.
