Our aim is to give every visitor a clear, practical, and locally relevant starting point for identifying common target fish. The guide prioritizes searchable, well-sourced reference content over promotional material, and it discloses the region, water type, and target-fish relevance behind each entry.

Editorial standards

Every species entry is prepared with reference to recognized taxonomic and fisheries sources, including the FishBase Consortium and the regional conservation and fishing authorities relevant to the entry. Where an entry depends on a specific source, that source, its publisher, and the date it was last verified are recorded alongside the content. Entries are dated and reviewed on a regular schedule so that readers can judge their currency.

Regional relevance, water type, and target-fish utility are the only signals used to rank species within the guide. Fish-Fish does not accept payment to raise or lower the prominence of any species entry.

Scope and limitations

The guide is informational. Legal size and bag limits, closed seasons, protected status, and licensing requirements differ by jurisdiction and change over time. Always confirm the rules that apply to your location with the local fishing or conservation authority before you rely on them.
